Jacqueline McGlade: 30th May

Jacqueline Myriam McGlade, born in  1955, is a marine biologist and environmental informatics professor. Her research concerns the spatial and nonlinear dynamics of ecosystems, climate change and scenario development. 

She studied at the University College of North Wales, Bangor, University of Guelph in Canada and Cambridge, UK

She has conducted important research at a number of different Canadian and European universities and worked for both the European Environment Agency (EEA) as executive director and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) where she was chief scientist. She is renowned for her work at the EEA on the Shared Environmental Information System(SEIS) and for promoting both public communication and the involvement of citizen science.

She is known as an outstanding communicator and significant contributor to the development of sustainable solutions to climate change and environmental problems.
